A goat, a garden, and student leadership in action!

At Ron Brown DC Public School, students are showing that growth really does start from the ground up.
Under the leadership of Travis Bouldin, an urban farmer and educator, Students at Ron Brown have transformed their courtyard into an immersive agricultural learning space.

From caring for animals to harvesting fresh produce, they’re learning the ins and outs of farming, nutrition and caring for their community (animals included!) They even host workshops with other schools, inviting students across the country into their school farmyard.
Progress Update
The chickens are LOVING their new home, the goats are pleased with the fencing, and Ron Brown was able to utilize their outdoor space to share what they’ve learned with other schools.
